Now, the saying 'Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder' rings true, particularly on the struggle of conflicting opinions of what is beautiful and what is not. But what qualities determine what is beautiful and why do the absence of this individual based qualities indicate that someone or something is not beautiful.
The impression of beauty is unique to each individual, but a collective belief is that beauty lies in the eyes. Do the eyes tease? Do they portray innocence? Do they weaken or intimidate?
Many consider women with intimidating eyes beautiful, curiously giving other body parts less recognition (An arguable fact).
Beauty as an individual notion has four aspects~
1. Beauty as a sexuality radiating medium.
2. Beauty made up of a fragile innocent look.
3. Beauty from the heart.
4. Beauty as a cold 'evil' thing.
So does ARTIFICIAL BEAUTY exist? Can the look gotten from the application of cosmetics be called beauty, without an injury to the arguable true meaning of the word?
An African saying puts it this way 'Wake her up in the morning & if you can still smile, she's beautiful.'
Is beauty the mind's confirmation of perfections in another human being or is beauty simply the mind's stubborn denial of clear imperfections struggling on the foundation of fantasy?
Does the recognition that someone is beautiful come from a programmed choice mechanism in our minds which appreciates certain looks and discards others, or is this recognition of beauty subject to a number of factors?
Many would rationalize that the recognition of beauty comes from a programmed 'choice' setting, which chooses certain subjective perfections. And if some believe that beauty is subject to a number of factors, does the absence of these factors indicate ugliness?
Is anyone truly ugly?
However, it has been suggested that attitude clashes unconsciously influences the recognition of beauty. The clash of attitudes causes the individual to unconsciously block his/her appreciation of beauty in the other individual he/she clashed with.
What exactly is true beauty? Does it go beyond what we see?

Love the theme u've chosen for your 1st post. Beauty - this topic will always have smt magical in it..for me anyway. My opinion is that ugly, beautiful, good...all of these words reflect relative realities. Each culture has an image of what is beautiful ( certain tribes tatoo their whole body, a couple of houndreds of years ago black teeth were considered beautiful in japan, and so was the white powder in europe's middle ages. Our perception of exterior beauty is influenced by the society we live in but i'll always think that what's inside mathers the most : a person's heart, character etc. if the myth of the androgyne is true then there is no real ugly person for there will always be someone to see perfection what everyone else see as a flaw.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work..i think i'm gonna be an avid reader of your blog :)
Love your views, Cris. I'll call it the changing tide of beauty. Same thing here, a few years ago, women who were 'fat' were considered beautiful, now...thin is the new beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe best way to see true beauty is look farther than what the eyes can see. The beauty of someone's mind is true beauty. Nothing else. :)
